Is it starting to rain?
Did the check bounce?
Are we out of coffee?
Is this going to hurt?
Could you lose your job?
Did the glass break?
Was the baggage misrouted?
Will this go on my record?
Are you missing much money?
Was anyone injured?
Is the traffic heavy?
Do I have to remove my clothes?
Will it leave a scar?
Must you go?
Will this be in the papers?
Is my time up already?
Are we seeing the understudy?
Will it affect my eyesight?
Did all the books burn?
Are you still smoking?
Is the bone broken?
Will I have to put him to sleep?
Was the car totaled?
Am I responsible for these charges?
Are you contagious?
Will we have to wait long?
Is the runway icy?
Was the gun loaded?
Could this cause side effects?
Do you know who betrayed you?
Is the wound infected?
Are we lost?
Can it get any worse?

Dreams: dinosaurs, zombies, projects, YouTube, hover flats, bread, work. Big variety this time around.
10:09 AM Oct 1st from web

Come on, coffee. Help me get things done today!
12:11 PM Oct 1st from web

Quilt top: done. Quilt back: done. Now the hard parts: quilting and binding. Must find batting before I can continue.
3:17 PM Oct 1st from web

Oh look, batting! A whole package in the right size, even. Thank goodness for labels. Love labels.
3:28 PM Oct 1st from web

Ugh. Done with quilting for tonight due to sewing injury. Was tired of quilting anyway. Now maybe blogging, less dangerous.
8:22 PM Oct 1st from web

Downtown Cheyenne: the mailboxes that used to be on the 2100 block of Carey Ave are now on the 2100 block of Pioneer. Just circle the block.
2:52 AM Oct 2nd from web

But it was fun to watch car after car, their windows rolled down and mail in hand, pull up to the place where the mailboxes USED to be.
2:54 AM Oct 2nd from web

I’ve tried 3x now to Tweet last night’s dreams, but no go. Thankfully, they weren’t that interesting, so you’re not missing anything good.
9:59 AM Oct 2nd from web

Shit. I am completely unprepared to decorate for Halloween.
1:01 PM Oct 3rd from web

Winding down an exciting day at the races, gathering and Zombieland with a nice round or two of Left 4 Dead. Later: frozen pizza & Fringe!
7:59 PM Oct 3rd from web

And that’s Numberwa … er … a Saturday.
1:41 AM Oct 4th from web

Desperately want overpriced, yummy, creamy designer espresso drinks. But that requires getting dressed, leaving house. Settle for french press @ home.
11:10 AM Oct 4th from web

Fuck. I am never quilting anything this big again. My wrist is killing me & I’m only 3/5 of the way through. Still have binding to do, too.
2:25 PM Oct 4th from web

Ahhh! Finally, the quilting is done. I’ll worry about the binding later; I’m fed up with the quilt for now. On to different projects.
4:02 PM Oct 4th from web

And then there were none.
12:33 AM Oct 5th from web

This last week, which I was working at home for, was just perfect for watching autumn in Cheyenne.
10:20 AM Oct 5th from web

Off I go again. Unwililng, but going. Wish me safe and swift travels. Maybe I’ll pick up some neat prize bag items this trip.
12:35 PM Oct 5th from web

Hustling through the airport while wet from the rain does not make my top ten list of enjoyable activities. At least it is done!
3:20 PM Oct 5th from txt

Fortunately for me, the weather in Sioux Falls is just like the weather in Cheyenne recently.

This rental car is huge. I could fit three adult bodies in the trunk. Or two obese bodies. Or my entire closet contents. Or about 50 pillows.

Not bad. Enjoying a buffalo steak in downtown Sioux Falls with a view of the river in the cold rain. Good start to the trip of the week.

Well of course they have delectable carrot cake.

10:55 AM Oct 6th from web

Sweet holy fuckity fuck – there is snow covering my yard! SNOW!! YEA! SNOW!
9:05 AM Oct 8th from web

Went to put on bunny slippers (in celebration of SNOW) but found I’ve worn large holes in the soles. Time to repair, or just buy new ones.
10:16 AM Oct 8th from web

Planned to do yard work and Halloween decorations today, but the snow changed my plans to buffing my fingernails. They gleam and shine now.
11:07 AM Oct 8th from web

Anyone in the Cheyenne area want a treadmill? Works great, just come pick it up and get it out my house and therefore my way!
11:07 AM Oct 8th from web

Very frustrated by stupid people busy covering their ass & trying to look smart instead of just doing the minimum of their fucking job!!
12:02 PM Oct 8th from web

No one? No one wants a pretty nice treadmill? It has incline and a built in fan! And more importantly, I need it out of my dining room.
12:21 PM Oct 8th from web

Oh. Okay, that’s it. I’m making some stickers.
1:37 PM Oct 8th from web

Have officially succumbed to the cold; turned thermostat up to 65F and might wear worn out slippers anyway.

4:47 PM Oct 8th from web

Okay Slick, I’m officially calling it. No one wants our treadmill; you are clear to dismantle it and appropriate parts as desired.
6:06 PM Oct 8th from web

Now at the stage of tired where perfectly average words look weird and wrong. Going to sleep. Dream well.
2:43 AM Oct 9th from web

Dreams: time- jumping! Yea! Finally back to dream territory I know instead of that dull, stupid non-dream shit. Ahhhh. Better.
9:12 AM Oct 9th from web

Keep forgetting what I’m doing, very distracted this morning. Maybe this delicious cup of coffee can set me on the right track?

I’m actually on a plane now so I have high hopes of at least making it to DEN.
5:02 PM Apr 17th from txt

Psych! You thought you were getting to Denver when your plane took off that way. Didn’t count on them turning around did ya’?! Hello OKC.
7:34 PM Apr 17th from txt

Taking another shot at getting to Denver. After 7 hrs of trying to get even to this halfway point I just want to uncrease jeans off my legs.
8:10 PM Apr 17th from txt

Denver! Finally. Now to see about the drive.
9:57 PM Apr 17th from txt

Well of course they have plowed all that slushy snow up behind my car. What else would they have done today?
10:31 PM Apr 17th from txt

I25 just south of WY border is Very Bad. Closer to Cheyenne, it is even worse. Cheyenne itself is unbelievably bad tonight. Not going out. Don’t go.
12:54 AM Apr 18th from web

Long day, harrowing drive, safely home. Spooky & I are going to bed now for as long as we can stay under.
12:55 AM Apr 18th from web

Watch the sun come out in full force tomorrow morning & destroy all evidence of this massive snowfall before you get to see it. My luck.
12:58 AM Apr 18th from web

I love home. 9.5 hours of sleep was great, too. Now for a hot bath to unknot my stressed muscles and coffee to give me a little zip today.
11:35 AM Apr 18th from web

Surely enough, the sun melted away the most dangerous snow build up. I didn’t even have to shovel the walk. Freezing tonight is undesirable.
8:16 PM Apr 18th from web

Spooky the cat comes in and yells at me when it is past bedtime. I tell you, she has a set schedule and likes us all to follow it.
1:28 AM Apr 19th from web

I forgot how delicious Cocoa Puffs are. It’s like dessert for breakfast. Good for when I don’t have cupcakes.
9:50 AM Apr 19th from web

Oh man, I’m already running behind schedule! I’ve barely started!!
1:31 PM Apr 19th from web

How is it that every slow Sunday driver knows to get in front of you when you’re in a hurry!?
2:14 PM Apr 19th from txt

Nice! Free room upgrade!
8:08 PM Apr 19th from txt

Successfully did the work. One step closer to home.
11:21 AM Apr 20th from txt

More work done. Even closer to home now. Is it obvious that I miss home & Slick?
1:17 PM Apr 20th from web

Ugh. Coffee crash. Must stay perked up – still have the long drive home then an early morning tomorrow.
5:38 PM Apr 20th from txt

Yea! Home. Spooky missed me terribly, spoiled cat. Now for a few hours sleep and then more of the work. Sweet dreams all.
10:59 PM Apr 20th from web

A plea to all my friends: lend me strength to keep my tongue bitten today.
9:51 AM Apr 21st from txt

Okay, I got a couple useful bits. It will be easier to be still now. Thanks for the strength loan, all.
10:47 AM Apr 21st from txt

I reluctantly admit that the presentation training was beneficial. Easier to say now that it is done.
4:17 PM Apr 21st from txt

Oh! That feeling is hunger! I remember now, I need to eat.
9:21 PM Apr 21st from web

What is THIS queasy feeling tum now? I don’t have time for this. OH! Damn! I was supposed to be asleep two hours ago!! Damn you internets!

Having Slick home makes everything better. Especially ice cream. ‘Night all.
12:36 AM Apr 23rd from web

Homemade pizza, a good ol’-fashioned sock burning and ice cream and movies. Sounds like we’re starting our weekend early. Enjoy yours!
9:24 PM Apr 23rd from web

Hope this fresh work drops off before it interrupts my afternoon coffee with Ymabean!

11:20 AM Apr 25th from web

Sushi Saturday!
3:02 PM Apr 25th from TwitPic

Glitter Twitter: my glitter is still missing. How do 18 colors of glitter vanish? Where could it be? Is the glitter with the surgical masks?
6:32 PM Apr 25th from web

If anyone is still up, there is some light hail / frost layered outside. It will be gone in the morning but it looks neat right now.
2:05 AM Apr 26th from web

Another wonderful spring day at home finds me full of coffee and covered in glue. No glitter still, but I can’t do everything.
3:09 PM Apr 26th from web

Slick and I are finally finishing Lost tonight. I forgot how much I liked this show! Good stuff.
8:04 PM Apr 26th from web

I was unaware Lost was still going until May of 2010. We are now only two episodes behind the aired schedule. But now we must wait a YEAR!!
3:01 AM Apr 27th from web

Okay, Cheyenne, I thought we were done with this snow business!
10:13 AM Apr 27th from web

I’m going to organize a Search Party for my glitter set. House isn’t that big – it has to be here. Also, typing w/ gluey fingers is hard.
3:00 PM Apr 27th from web

I could really use a nice shot of whiskey and a foot rub right now. Wait! I think we have whiskey. Halfway there!
8:37 PM Apr 27th from web

Giant moth in the shower makes for a startling bedtime bathroom visit. Have a nice night, all.
12:59 AM Apr 28th from web

Things keep popping up but I don’t have time to deal with them before getting on the plane! Patience, problems. I’ll be with you soon.
3:03 PM Apr 28th from txt

Oh Sis, did you know how POPULAR this Oregon Ducks shirt would make me when you sent it this way? You are a little bit the devil.
7:09 PM Apr 28th from txt

Something must have happened on 270S. Cops are blocking onramps and I see a woman pulled over taking pictures from an overpass. Meeting!
8:52 AM Apr 29th from txt

Cool – the president is in town! Thanks for the info, AlphaMaven. Now I get to see how badly this messes up traffic for me later. Woot.
9:45 AM Apr 29th from web

Oh good, more gnarly traffic. I was so hoping that getting to the airport could be more challenging. Wish granted! Now to wish for lottery $!
5:13 PM Apr 29th from txt

I hate you TSA!
5:34 PM Apr 29th from txt

I am both relieved and shocked that I made my gate in time. Until next time, STL.
5:42 PM Apr 29th from txt

10:38 PM Apr 29th from web

It has been a long, long, exhausting day (thanks insomnia) & I am VERY glad to be home with Slick & Spooky to care for/shed & purr over me.
11:03 PM Apr 29th from web

I must say, a nice, long, hard sleep will help your attitude overnight. Now for coffee to improve that even more.
11:00 AM Apr 30th from web

Awesome: http://tinyurl.com/d9latl but I know we crafters will do this and more when the time comes!

Mousies what I love to eat,
Bite they little heads off,
Nibble on they tiny feet.

Tell all the Truth but tell it slant –
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind –

The Moon

The moon is outside.
I saw the great uncomplicated thing
when I went to take a leak just now.
I should have looked at it longer.
I am a poor lover of the moon.
I see it all at once and that’s it
for me and the moon.

Once I loved a spider
When I was born a fly,
A velvet-footed spider
With a gown of rainbow-dye.
She ate my wings and gloated.
She bound me with a hair.
She drove me to her parlor
Above her winding stair.
To educate young spiders
She took me all apart.
My ghost came back to haunt her.
I saw her eat my heart.

God Says Yes To Me

 Uncategorized

I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do just exactly
what you want to
Thanks God I said
And is it even okay if I don’t paragraph
my letters
Sweetcakes God said
who knows where she picked that up
what I’m telling you is
Yes Yes Yes

Alley Cat Love Song

 Uncategorized
May 172007

Come into the garden, Fred,
For the neighborhood tabby is gone.
Come into the garden, Fred.
I have nothing but my flea collar on,
And the scent of catnip has gone to my head.
I’ll wait by the screen door till dawn.

The fireflies court in the sweetgum tree.
The nightjar calls from the pine,
And she seems to say in her rhapsody,
“Oh, mustard-brown Fred, be mine!”
The full moon lights my whiskers afire,
And the fur goes erect on my spine.

I hear the frogs in the muddy lake
Croaking from shore to shore.
They’ve one swift season to soothe their ache.
In autumn they sing no more.
So ignore me now, and you’ll hear my meow
As I scratch all night at the door.

Sister Cat

 Uncategorized
Apr 212007

Cat stands at the fridge,
Cries loudly for milk.
But I’ve filled her bowl.
Wild cat, I say, Sister,
Look, you have milk.
I clink my fingernail
Against the rim. Milk.
With down and liver,
A word I know she hears.
Her sad miaow. She runs
To me. She dips
In her whiskers but
Doesn’t drink. As sometimes
I want the light on
When it is on. Or when
I saw the woman walking
toward my house and
I thought there’s Frances.
Then looked in the car mirror
To be sure. She stalks
The room. She wants. Milk
Beyond milk. World beyond
This one, she cries.

Introduction to Poetry

 Uncategorized
Dec 052006

I ask them to take a poem
and hold it up to the light
like a color slide

or press an ear against its hive.

I say drop a mouse into a poem
and watch him probe his way out,

or walk inside the poem’s room
and feel the walls for a light switch.

I want them to waterski
across the surface of a poem
waving at the author’s name on the shore.

But all they want to do
is tie the poem to a chair with rope
and torture a confession out of it.

They begin beating it with a hose
to find out what it really means.

My cat

 Uncategorized
Sep 242006

My cat, unlike Verlaine’s or Baudelaire’s
Is neither diabolic nor a sphinx.
Though equally at home on laps or chairs,
She will not be caressed, nor plays the minx.
She has a single mood, she’s merely bored,
Yawns and walks away, retires to sleep.
Has never sniffed at where the fish is stored
Nor known to relish milk; less cat than sheep.
She does not condescend to chase a rat
Or play with balls of wool or show her claws
To teasing guests, but in my basement flat
Defies all animal and human laws
Of love and hate.

One night I’ll drown this cat.

Intention doesn’t sweeten.
It should be picked young
and eaten. Sometimes only hours
separate the cotyledon
from the wooden plant.
Then if you want to eat it,
you can’t.

Slow Children at Play

 Uncategorized
Jul 232006

All the quick children have gone inside, called
by their mothers to hurry-up-wash-your-hands
honey-dinner’s-getting-cold, just-wait-till-your-father-gets-home-
and only the slow children out on the lawns, marking off
paths between fireflies, making soft little sounds with their mouths, ohs, that glow and go out and glow. And their slow mothers flickering,
pale in the dusk, watching them turn in the gentle air, watching them
twirling, their arms spread wide, thinking, These are my children, thinking, Where is their dinner? Where has their father gone?
